Playa Venao, Destiladeros and Modrono are all quick car rides to great surf spots. Playa Venao has its own surf camp and this beach, like the others, is the perfect spot to catch waves free from crowds. Surf at Venao breaks both left and right and all of these beaches are uncrowded, perfect for both beginner and seasoned surfers alike. During surf competitions Playa Venao hosts more visitors and turns into a party atmosphere. This year, Panama’s famous rapper, Rookie, performed. The three day event was sponsored by Balboa, a Panamanian beer. Most visitors camp in tents, some stay in the few cabins located on the beach and others stay in nearby Pedasi. We recommend bringing a cooler for snacks and drinks, however here is one local rancho on the beach that sells some foodstuffs.
